Big Data

Nowadays almost every action you take leaves a digital footprint, whether it is just through your GPS enabled device (khem iPhone) or because your online shopping or chatting with your friends on social media platforms. Almost everything we do leaves a footprint.
Are we aware of it? i guess yeah.
Do we care? I guess it kinda creepy but we assume no one cares about our footprints because we are not someone important.
Yea. NO. haha. oops. Your trails are very very valuable to some people and they are all used.

This is “Big Data”.

The term “Big Data” refers to the collection of all this data and our ability to use it to our advantage across a wide range of areas, including business.

Big Data works on the principle that the more you know about anything or any situation, the more reliably you can gain new insights and make predictions about what will happen in the future.

A few applications:

  • Improving healthcare

  • Predicting and responding to natural and man-made disasters

  • Preventing crime

  • Evaluating the size of the market opportunity

  • Contribution to learning:

    • Adaptive learning

    • Problem control

  • Contribution to the development of transportation
